In the early hours of October 24, 2025, a private passenger bus traveling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru caught fire after colliding with a motorcycle on the Hyderabad–Bengaluru highway in Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh.The impact caused the fuel tank to burst, triggering a massive blaze that engulfed the entire vehicle within minutes. 

At least 20 passengers were killed and several others injured. Most victims were asleep when the accident occurred and were trapped inside as the flames spread rapidly.Survivors reported breaking windows to escape the inferno, while emergency responders struggled to access the burning vehicle due to the intense heat. 

Local authorities have launched an investigation into whether safety standards were violated by the bus operator.Both the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and India’s Prime Minister expressed condolences and promised compensation to victims’ families.The tragedy renewed calls for stricter vehicle inspections and better highway safety enforcement.
